Indonesian Management

The Indonesian operation of Baru Gold is managed by an experienced and motivated team of professionals with an extensive and broad range of international experience and skills in the mineral exploration and mining industry.

Terry Filbert

President and Director PTTMS

Terry has been closely involved in the mining and exploration industry since 2005, with significant on-the-ground experience in Indonesia. In addition to his extensive knowledge of the Sangihe project, Terry brings his entrepreneurial skills from a series of successful business ventures that include technology, import-export and human resources. Previously he was Managing Director of the Shellbridge Group Ltd. that was founded as an Import / Export company with operations in Shanghai and Zhuhai China. Shellbridge exported building materials, including timber and fiberglass insulation from China, Indonesia and USA to Australia. And imported petroleum and energy products into China including coal, petroleum products and asphalt. He supervised the logistics, financing, sourcing and business development. He was also Managing Director of Borneo Resource Investment Ltd., a publicly listed (“BRNE”) American mining company that mined gold, and developed producing gold mines in North Sulawesi, Republic of Indonesia. Here he was responsible for all management of the company’s Indonesian business, which included building a new mining team, acquiring properties for production, developing those properties for production, legal set-up for Indonesia, business planning and development, financial management and controls, and government and police liaison for mining and company assets. He developed a 5,000 ton gold ore production pad heap leach operation in Ratatotok area, North Sulawesi with the mandate to expand the operation to a 35,000 ton total, gold ore production pads, heap leach operation. Another position he held was Managing Director of Big Blue Resources Ltd. located in Hong Kong and Indonesia, which owns thermal coal mining concession licenses in East and Central Kalimantan and high grade Silica concessions in Central Kalimantan Indonesia. This company was founded by Terry to consolidate under-financed and under-performing mines in Indonesia. He was responsible for sourcing and obtaining financing and JV partners for these mining projects as well as managing the sales and trading office, which included the sales of all thermal coal to Asia Pacific.

Frank Rocca

Chief Geologist and Qualified Person

Frank has proven to be an innovative, resourceful, hands-on manager, with excellent leadership, team building and communication skills. He has over 25 years of experience in international exploration and mine development, including Indonesia, Australia, Africa, USA, and Chile. He has more than 25 years of Senior Leadership experience in exploration and mine development geology, including working with Barrick Gold Corporation. Most recently he was a Director and Senior Consultant with Dragon International Geological Services Pty Ltd., where he fulfilled roles including Project Manager, Chief Geologist and Mine Superintendent. Prior to that, from 2004 – 2010, Frank was employed with Pangea Minerals Limited (a subsidiary of Barrick Gold Corporation) as Technical Services Manager, where he oversaw the mine design and development of the Buzwagi and Tulawaka Mines. Within this six-year period, he also held the position of Chief Geologist overseeing establishment of the Geology departments for both mines. He was also a key member of the management team, which awarded mining, drilling and blasting contracts. Frank has also held several other senior management and leadership positions including at Gindalbie Gold NL, Barrick Gold Mines and Perilya Mines NL. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geology from Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Western Australia. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists and the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy with 12 years of experience in NI43-101 compliant Resources and Reserves reporting.
